Annual Spring Goat Day

This popular event, hosted by the Society, is held annually, on the 2nd Saturday in March.
The day features many educational & fun classes, contests, and seminars pertaining to dairy goats and their products, for the enjoyment of our members, and others interested in goats.
In addition to the guest speakers, various vendors selling goat related wares, the day also includes a Silent Auction, and the Annual MDGS Meeting where the general membership has the opportunity to vote for new Board Members and other Society issues.

Michigan Livestock Expo - coming July ;09

Debuting in July 2009
The Michigan Livestock Expo is a multi-species livestock event including beef, sheep, swine, and goats, designed to enhance the livestock industry, educate youth and showcase Michigan's agriculture industry. The dairy industry will also be holding the Michigan Dairy Expo simultaneously at the MSU Pavilion. Champions in each species will be sold at a special evening industry celebration.

GLOM
FYI.... here is a post regarding the NEXT GLOM MEETING on February 7th.
"folks-in addition to the email that Linda Kast sent out regarding the
upcoming GLOM meeting on 2/7 at 7:30 in the Community room at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds- --as Linda said, Dr.Judy Marteniuk will be there. Also as well as Judy, there will be two other resource people there---Heather Schroeder who raises a large herd of Boer goats and Dawn Reha who also raises over 50 head but these are Nigerian Dwarf's. They are both experienced with multiple births-including up to 6 at a time for the Nigerians. There part of the program will be on the supplies you need to have on hand to handle these types of emergencies and answer any questions they can for you. Hope we have a large turnout. This is your chance to hear for extremely, hands on, knowledgeable people. Bring your questions."
