Kent County Youth Fair Goat information 2010

•Goat showmen/Goat leaders please contact Julie Blodgett at gjglb@aol.com if there has been any change in the number of goats you or your club will be bringing to the fair. We are short on pens at this point and Julie would appreciate knowing if we can get an accurate count. Also, if you can double up goats in your club, please let Julie know that as well.

Explorer goats can be brought in for the show day on Monday, Aug 9, or explorer's can use a goat already on the grounds. Due to pen shortage, explorers should not plan to keep their goat at the fairgrounds.

•All goats that will be shown at the fair (explorer included) need to attend the Goat check in/Vet check on Sunday, August 8, at 1:00pm. Exhibitors will need to pay $2.00/head for the vet check. Please make sure that your goat is officially ID'd (scrapie tag/tatoo, registry tatoos, or microchip) If you have registry tatoos you must have your registration papers with you.

Market Goat Weigh-in will be Sunday evening around 4:30pm. We will be applying neck chain collars to the goats with the auction tag and this must stay on the goat the entire week. This will eliminate administering another ear or tail web tag.

•There will be a GDC market goat that was donated and it will be going through the auction. Any proceeds from that sale will benefit the Kent County Goat Developmental Committee. Encourage everyone you know to help us out by bidding!

•If you have not sent Julie Blodgett your official ID information (as needed on the declaration form) please do so ASAP!!

•We will not be using the exhibit tags for the goat show or other fun classes/quizbowl, etc.

Thanks!! Also, just a reminder that the Lowell Youth and 4-H Goat show will be on Saturday, July 17 at the Lowell Fairgrounds. There will be a showmanship/fitting clinic given by our outstanding judge, Tammy Tuller, before the show, at 8:30am. There is no charge for the Clinic, and all are welcome to attend. The goat show registration starts at 8:00am and the show will begin at 10:00am. Please feel free to show up for one or both even if you haven't registered. You can register at the door. The cost is $5.00/goat and if you would like a pen the cost is $10.00/pen. (A $5.00 refund will be given on the pens if it is cleaned before you leave)
